Microsoft has now released the Windows 10 news feed ‘News and Interests’ for everyone and enabled it by default on the taskbar, causing many people to search for how to disable it.
In April, Microsoft began rolling out a new taskbar newsfeed feature called ‘News & Interests’ that displays local weather on the taskbar. Clicking will open a dashboard displaying various widgets containing current news, weather, stock prices, and traffic information for your location.
From last month’s Windows 10 preview cumulative updates, Microsoft enabled News and Interests for all users running Windows 10 1909 and later.
However, since most Windows users do not install preview updates, many Windows 10 devices did not get the new feature until Microsoft released mandatory cumulative updates on June 2021 Patch Tuesday yesterday.
Others have also reported that the News & Interests feature has still reported bugs that alter the display of the taskbar and its notification icons.
“It rebooted and happened again so that didn’t help, most likely the cause of my taskbar crashing is this” new “weather widget I got with this update, which I already turned off, but the fact that this still happens … Does anyone know of any solution for this? “, a user aware on Reddit.
The good news is, if you’re not a fan of the News & Interests feature, you can quickly turn it off.
To disable the news and interests widget, right-click on an empty part of the taskbar, select ‘News and interests, ‘and then click’To turn off.
Once you turn off the News & Interests feature, it won’t turn on again unless you turn it back on.
Microsoft is requesting feedback on this feature and has been actively resolving reported issues. To leave feedback, click the weather icon, then click … menu, and then select Feedback.
