Emergency services went to the scene of the accident at the Timor hotel in Playa de Palma, but found him motionless, local media report.

He could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim had reportedly just arrived on the island to spend a few days at a resort near Magaluf.

A full investigation is currently underway.

It comes as the UK government repeated its warning against dangerous or disorderly behavior near balconies.

A recent statement said: “There have been a number of serious accidents, some fatal, involving British citizens falling from heights, including from balconies.

“Do not take unnecessary risks around balconies or other high places, especially if you are under the influence of drink or drugs.

“If you stay in a room with a balcony, follow the hotel or apartment’s safety recommendations and be careful around friends who may be at risk.

“In some regions, you can be found or evicted from your hotel if you are caught doing irresponsible acts on balconies.”
