The 2023 season didn’t exactly go to plan for the Los Angeles Chargers.

After suffering from countless injuries to their biggest stars, the Chargers took a step backward, as they were unable to garner any momentum throughout the year.

While the season might not have panned out how the fanbase anticipated, the addition of Jim Harbaugh as their head coach seemed to be a step in the right direction.

He hasn’t coached a game for this team yet, but fans are already excited to see what he can do.

There is a newfound sense of hope for this organization, and now that they have the No. 5 pick in this year’s draft, the Chargers could add an elite player to their team to further the confidence in them moving forward.

Some fans and analysts predict that the Chargers will select a wide receiver with this pick, given that they lost both Mike Williams and Keenan Allen in the offseason.

While this is a logical thought on paper, especially knowing the depth of receiver in the class, Brian Baldinger presented an alternate viewpoint on “NFL Total Access.”

“Jim Harbaugh would covet Joe Alt,” Baldinger said.

Joe Alt is widely viewed as the best offensive lineman in this class.

He went to Notre Dame, a college that is known for producing great offensive linemen, especially for those players who appear worthy of a first-round selection.

If the Chargers want to protect their most valuable investment in Justin Herbert, it might not be a bad thing to take Alt here and look at receivers in the later rounds.
