The Golden State Warriors dynasty is believed by many to be over, but the organization is going to try to jump-start it for at least one more year.

They missed the playoffs this season after losing in the play-in tournament, and it was the first time in many years that they have done so when relatively healthy.

The Warriors could try to make a big move or two this summer in order to pry open their championship window, and according to Mark Willard, one of those moves could result in an all-time great returning to the Bay, per 95.7 The Game.

“The more people I talk to, I’m telling you this Kevin Durant thing could happen. This is realistic,” Willard said.

Durant, of course, played three seasons for Golden State starting in the 2016-17 campaign after leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder, and he helped lead Golden State to back-to-back NBA championships immediately upon his arrival.

But he seemed to have one foot out the door during the 2018-19 season, and after tearing his Achilles during that year’s NBA Finals, he left to team up with Kyrie Irving on the Brooklyn Nets.

Durant’s current team, the Phoenix Suns, just got swept in the first round of the playoffs despite having three legitimate stars in himself, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal, and now there’s speculation that he wants out.

Of course, trading for Durant would be very expensive for the Warriors, and they may have to somewhat gut their roster in order to bring back the future Hall of Famer.

But even in his mid-30s, he continues to play at his accustomed high level, and perhaps he’s the man to take the Warriors back to the NBA’s upper echelon.
