At this point in time, no one doubts that the Chicago Bears will select USC superstar quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft on Thursday in Detroit, Michigan.

Once Williams is off the board, that’s when it starts to get intriguing in the draft, with a lot of uncertainty surrounding the No. 2 overall pick by the Washington Commanders, who will almost certainly take a quarterback.

Over the past couple of months, there’s been a lot of buzz about who the Commanders will pick once they’re on the clock on April 25, with the team seemingly going back and forth on Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye.

However, with about 24 hours to go before the draft starts, it seems like Daniels may have officially jumped Maye on Washington’s draft board, with Steve Palazzolo of PFF believing Maye has begun to drop on the team’s draft boards via The Dan Patrick Show.

“Well, everyone is talking about Drake Maye, the quarterback from UNC,” Palazzolo said. “I really thought at the beginning of this draft cycle he was going to be locked in at No. 2, but you are talking about Jayden Daniels of LSU maybe being that guy. I think the more they watch, the more they really love Jayden Daniels, and I think they’ve been a little disappointed with Drake Maye.”

Obviously, it is easy to say this right now, but everything can change on draft day, especially if trade starts happening left and right with the team’s wanting to move up in order to bring in Maye.

It’ll be interesting to see where Maye lands if he falls any further than the New England Patriots at No. 3 overall on draft night.
