Analyst Says He’s ‘A Little Worried’ About 1 QB Prospect

After months of speculation, rumors, and countless mock drafts, the 2024 NFL Draft has finally arrived.

Thursday’s first round will finally end the hypothesizing about where the top six quarterbacks will land.

By late Thursday night, the media will begin second-guessing about why certain quarterbacks went to certain teams.

PFF lead draft analyst, Trevor Sikkema, appeared on the Dan Patrick Show on Thursday to caution teams one last time about taking LSU signal-caller Jayden Daniels.

“I’m a little worried about Jayden Daniels,” said Sikkema. “I think there is an infatuation about what he can do as a runner, but it’s not exactly what every running quarterback brings to the table.”

Sikkema continued by explaining that Daniels has to do a better job of protecting himself when he runs to remain durable.

He then pointed out Daniels’s propensity to throw passes at LSU that were outside the numbers and the alarming lack of passes to the middle of the field.

“There’s only been 30 passing attempts that he has over the middle of the field out of the 400 he attempted last year. He just doesn’t do it very often,” said Sikkema.

Sikkema also found that the narrative of Daniels being a good scrambling quarterback is unfounded, stating that he only had half the scrambling pass attempts last year that Washington’s Michael Penix Jr. did.

Regardless of what Sikkema and other analysts point out, NFL teams have had months to scrutinize the same things and plan what to do.

Those issues won’t prevent them from taking a player like Daniels early and developing him in their image.
