As Jaxson Dart Emerges Betting Favorite for Heisman Over Shedeur Sanders, Lane Kiffin Denies Domination for SEC Title Against Alabama and Georgia

Good times are rolling for the Ole Miss Rebels program. At least college football expert, Andy Staples along with Ole Miss HC, Lane Kiffin believes so. The On3 analyst paid a visit to the YouTube podcast, The Paul Finebaum Show. Going by the predictions, Ole Miss is going to achieve something big, cementing their position in the Championship finals and leaving Alabama and Georgia for a toss.

However, Coach Kiffin rather adheres to a humble stance denying any sort of domination in the SEC. Meanwhile, all eyes of the Rebels’ fans are fixed on the quarterback phenom Jaxson Dart who grabbed the spotlight from Shedeur Sanders.

Staples shared his analysis of Lane Kiffin’s squad with the SEC’s Mouth of the South, Paul Finebaum. As per the speculations, SEC teams looking to capture the conference title will give Ole Miss a tough time. The suspects include Alabama, Georgia, followed by the newcomer Texas. Even though, among the prospects, the Rebels are not much of a dark horse this year, the latest developments in the program say otherwise as Kiffin has made some positive changes in the program. But Kiffin seems to stand by this part of Staples’ analysis where the On3 analyst claimed, “Look, I wouldn’t be shocked if Ole Miss winds up in Atlanta because they have the combination of the roster and schedule to make that happen.”

It may be assumed that Kiffin here comes off as a modest coach as he acknowledges the legacy Kirby Smart and Kalen DeBoer have achieved so far in their respective career. Besides, Kiffins’ denial, Ole Miss has shot to headline over the Jaxson-Shedeur debate.

Dart’s chances in Heisman over Shedeur

Rebels quarterback Jaxson Dart owns Heisman odds heading into the 2024 football season. As per the analysis put forward by FanDuel, Dart has an implied probability of 6.25% of taking home the Heisman Award. However, finding himself in this prospect has not been easy for the quarterback considering the tough competition he had to face. It was Mike Farrell who criticized ESPN’s quarterback rankings for having Buffaloes’ quarterback sensation Shedeur listed behind Jaxson Dart.

However, the Rebels quarterback did take up the spot ahead of Shedeur now that he played a huge role in Ole Miss securing an 11-win season. He comes in at +1800 odds for the award, tied for seventh-best nationally. It would take something truly spectacular for Dart to take home the trophy if the Rebels fall short of that number.

It would require Jaxson Dart to make a big jump to reach the records of the Heisman-winning QBs who averaged 367.3 combined passing and rushing yards per game in their Heisman seasons. Will the Ole Miss quarterback be able to put a stop to the Jaxson-Shedeur debate by lifting the trophy? Let your comments pour in!
