Biden assures Zelensky that the United States will “quickly provide” a security package

US President Joe Biden spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday to assure him that Washington will provide more aid as soon as the Senate approves the national security package, the White House announced.

Biden told Zelensky on Monday that the United States has an “enduring commitment to supporting Ukraine as it defends its freedom against Russian aggression” and that “his administration will quickly provide important new security assistance packages to meet urgent air defense needs.” and the Ukrainian battlefield as soon as the Senate approves the national security supplement and signs it into law.”

The president also told Zelensky that U.S. economic assistance is intended to help Ukraine maintain financial stability, build infrastructure in the wake of Russia’s attacks, and support reforms as Ukraine moves toward Euro-Atlantic integration.

The Senate will vote Tuesday to advance a $95 billion foreign aid package that includes $61 billion for Ukraine, which the House approved over the weekend.

The Senate is expected to approve the foreign aid package this week after 22 of the Senate’s 49 Republicans voted in favor when it passed the Senate in February.

Zelensky said in an interview with NBC on Sunday that Ukraine has a chance of victory in the conflict with Russia now that the US House of Representatives has approved more weapons for kyiv.
