After trading away star wide receiver Stefon Diggs earlier this month, the Buffalo Bills are badly in need of a legitimate threat at that position.

They also lost Gabe Davis, who had been their WR2, in free agency, which has left quarterback Josh Allen without any real threats on offense.

Ryan Talbot tweeted today that Buffalo held a private workout with University of South Carolina wideout Xavier Legette.

Legette isn’t one of the top wide receiver prospects in this year’s draft, but he is intriguing for a few reasons.

He has solid speed, as he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.39 seconds, and at 6-foot-1 and 221 pounds, he has good size to play the wide receiver position at the next level.

He’s also adept at making contested catches and adding additional yards after making a catch.

Last season, Legette caught 71 passes and registered 1,255 yards and seven touchdowns in 12 games for South Carolina.

He appears to be a prospect who could be taken in one of the middle rounds of the draft, possibly the third round.

It is officially retooling time in Buffalo with Diggs gone, and a different set of expectations will be needed after the team was considered Super Bowl contenders for all or most of the last four seasons.

While Allen is under contract for at least two more yearsthey won’t have all the time in the world to return to elite status, and the rest of the AFC is only getting deeper and more competitive with each passing year.
