Chinese swimmer doping scandal causes concern and controversy ahead of Paris Olympics

Chinese swimmers who tested positive for the banned drug trimetazidine were allowed to swim at the Tokyo Olympics. The case came to light after an investigation by the New York Times. The World Anti-Doping Agency says it followed “due process” in accepting an explanation from Chinese officials, who said the swimmers inadvertently ingested the banned drug. The agency denied any wrongdoing on Monday.
