Extraction 3 writer Joe Russo teases what’s next for Chris Hemsworth’s character in the announced threequel. After the success of the original film in 2020, Hemsworth return as Tyler Rake for last summer’s hit sequel. The Extraction 2 ending paves the way for more stories to come, and Hemsworth subsequently confirmed that a third movie with returning director Sam Hargrave and producers Joe and Anthony Russo is a go.

As audiences await concrete news on Extraction 3Russo provides an update on the project during a recent interview with GamesRadar. According to the writer and producer, the film is still in active development, but it could further explore Rake’s backstory. Check out Russo’s full comment below:

“Yeah, we’re developing it at the moment, figuring out Chris’s schedule. Sam Hargrave is back directing. It’s an interesting franchise because he’s a very emotionally wounded character, so there’s good storytelling there I think in respect to his backstory, and, you know, his relationship to violence is one that’s built around self-loathing and guilt. And so, it adds a lot of texture I think, which allows us to tell more stories about him. ”

More to come…
