While Tyrese Maxey and Philadelphia fans might be overjoyed at the results of the Most Improved Player award, there are still several others who think Maxey does not deserve it. No, not because he has in some way got on their bad side. It’s simply because they believe Chicago Bulls guard, Coby White, deserved it more. And it was a close call, too. There was only a 14-point difference in their total votes (319-305).
But it is what it is. And this season was Maxey’s. And yet, no one can contest that he has been nothing short of remarkable for the Sixers throughout the year. With superstar center, Joel Embiid appearing in just 39 games, the 23-year-old has carried the offense and the team on his back like a true champ.
Unfortunately, ‘People’s MIP’ White’s snub doesn’t sit well with many. And they took to X to showcase their disapproval. This fan, for instance, wrote, “Coby robbed wtf.”
