Cristiano Ronaldo & Co. in Turmoil as AL Nassr CEO at Risk of Prosecution Over Crime Allegations- Reports

There has been a lot of behind-the-scenes shakeup at Al Nassr this season. It all started when sporting director Goran Vucevic abruptly left the club on Christmas 2023. Following this, president Musalli Al Muammar resigned from his job as well. Stories were emerging that the lack of stability within the club was affecting the performances of Cristiano Ronaldo & Co. Now, at the business end of the season, another shocking revelation has emerged. CEO Guido Fienga who has a rocky relationship with CR7 may find himself in legal trouble!

A report by Valerio Peracini indicates that Guido Fienga might get prosecuted for his alleged crimes. Some of the crimes include false corporate communications and manipulating the market for better transfers.

The Italian had joined the Saudi side in late 2023 with a lot of pedigree. He worked with AS Roma since 2013 and became their Chief Executive in 2019. However, since joining Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr, it’s not been smooth sailing for the Italian.

Last year, controversy erupted when the CEO fired 3 staff from the women’s team. The decision was puzzling considering the trajectory of the team. The Al Nassr women’s team were winners of the first Saudi Women’s championship. Moreover, Fienga failed to issue the rationale behind his decision. Hence, he faced a huge backlash from the fans. But, this incident pales in comparison to his episode with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Guido Fienga were at loggerheads over bonuses

Within a month of joining the club, the new CEO made the controversial decision to reduce the player bonuses. This meant that players would receive fewer incentives for winning matches and championships. As a result, both the men’s and women’s teams were agitated by the decision and it was Cristiano Ronaldo who spoke up regarding the same. The Portuguese star was furious at the decision and spoke to the team management. Apparently, Ronaldo instructed them to have a word with the Italian executive and communicate to him the player’s annoyances.

However, adding drama to the saga, it came to light that the players have not even received past bonuses! Notably, Al Nassr had a stellar record in the AFC Champions League group stages, won the Arab Champions Cup, and won games in the King Cup. As such, Fienga was under a lot of pressure. Yet, the matter was resolved later on as Al Nassr had opened a special bank account to distribute the player bonuses. Considering the past troubles it seems unlikely that Cristiano Ronaldo & Co will be backing their CEO on this matter.
