“Don’t Mention My Name Anymore”: Caleb Plant Fires a Warning Shot After Jermall Charlo’s ‘Apology’

Caleb Plant is in boxing limbo! And now, he is trying to rekindle his feud with Jermall Charlo to make the overdue fight happen on social media. However, it begs the question, is the fight even possible at this point? Just last year, during the Terence Crawford vs. Errol Spence Jr. weigh-ins, Plant and Charlo got into a physical altercation.

It drummed up quite the commotion, with many calling for a fight between the two! However, nothing ever came out of it. Since then, ‘Hit Man’ Charlo has fought and defeated Jose Benavidez while Plant succumbed to David Benavidez. Nevertheless, Charlo seems to be trying to hash things out with Plant. Plant, on the other hand, wants all the smoke.

Caleb Plant thinks “This is the fight the boxing world wants”

Earlier today, Plant hopped on Instagram, sharing a clip of his altercation with Charlo last year, where Plant can be seen slapping Charlo. Quick note: Charlo had invaded Plant’s personal space and tugged on his beard, which resulted in Plant’s outburst. Nevertheless, in his post, Plant wrote, “This is the fight I want, can’t make it anymore clear.”

He then added, “Unless you’re ready to fight (I’d) suggest not playing in ANY grown man’s face. So let’s fight or leave me be and don’t mention my name anymore… This is the fight the boxing world wants and I’m in the business of making big fights.” The post came after Jermall Charlo had apologized to Plant for the altercation during a recent Instagram live session.

Charlo said, “Caleb Plant what’s up, fool. I ain’t mad at you dog. You got your lick back. I was pulling on your beard. That’s my fault.” It’s worth mentioning, both fighters have been rather inactive, but Charlo seems to be after a fight against Canelo Alvarezand the money that comes with it. However, Plant, on the other hand, thinks a fight against Charlo is a safe bet for him. Nonetheless, Plant has previously revealed the real reason he smacked Charlo!

Plant didn’t know what else to do!

Following the incident, Plant spoke about it in an Instagram live session! The thing is, both parties could never look eye-to-eye since their social media back and forth in 2022, when Charlo had called Plant a stepping stone to bigger and better opponents. However, in his video, Plant suggested the real reason behind the slap was Plant’s wife and peers.

He said, “You know, grown man touch another grown man in his face, pulling on his beard real hard… I’ve got the decency to tell you not to do that again, and I don’t smash on you right there… You immediately grab my face again even harder, after I asked you not to do that no more….I got my wife standing right behind me, and I’m in a room full of my peers. I mean, what do you do?”

Even though quite some time has passed, and Jermall Charlo seems to have moved on, Caleb Plant seems to have been harboring some resentment for Charlo. Or he might just be looking for a way out of his boxing limbo. What do you think? Should the fighters hash things out? Or a fight is necessary?
