One of the most intriguing prospects in this year’s NFL Draft is North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye.

The former ACC Player of the Year and All-ACC performer is slated to be the next franchise quarterback for a hopeful and hungry team that is picking in the top 10 of the draft.

At least, that is the belief.

Maye had an appearance on “The Carton Show” to respond to critics who question his football abilities after a somewhat down 2023 season in Chapel Hill.

“I still threw for well over 3,000 (yards), so it’s not like I wasn’t making plays,” Maye said Wednesday morning.

Keep in mind that over his final two years at North Carolina under head coach Mack Brown, Maye threw for 62 touchdowns and 16 interceptions.

He finished his college career fifth all-time in passing yards at North Carolina (8,018).

Maye joins USC’s Caleb Williams, LSU’s Jayden Daniels, Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy, Washington’s Michael Penix Jr., and Auburn’s Bo Nix as some of the most coveted signal-callers in the 2024 draft class.

With Williams and Daniels being the odds-on favorites to go No. 1 and No. 2 overall, Maye is believed to be the next one to go by a lot of pundits.

With the Bears and Commanders sitting with the first and second pick, that leaves the Patriots, another quarterback-needy team, with the third pick.

Could Maye head to the Patriots and help jumpstart the new era with first-year head coach Jerod Mayo at the helm?

The answer will be presented to fans soon enough.
