Exploring Coach Prime’s Hollywood Journey as Son Shilo Sanders Dons His Acting Hat on ‘Black Mafia Family’

Deion Sanders has been a trailblazer in college football and Colorado Buffaloes in particular. When Trevon Hamlet played lacrosse at Colorado from 2014 to 2019, he was the only Black person on his team in a school where African American students made up less than 2% of the population. However, Sanders’ entry turned the Boulder campus into an unexpected cultural phenomenon.

This was enough for the famous web series Black Mafia Family to dedicate a season to Coach Prime. However, this was not the only time that Sanders got a silver screen break as his Hollywood journey started a long time ago. But this time it will be special, as it will feature his son, Shilo, too.

The Colorado Buffaloes’ program’s success is often associated with Deion Sanders’ “Black Excellence”. The coach made use of the college football platform, getting bigger opportunities with more resources that he in turn devoted to his players and staff. However, even though he did so much, criticism did not stop following him. Known for his boldness, Sanders did land himself at a critical juncture. However, instead of limiting himself to the cocoon, the Buffs HC took up a threatening role, “When you see a confident Black man sitting up here talking his talk, walking his walk, coaching 75% African Americans in the locker room, that’s kind of threatening. Oh, they don’t like that.”

As he looks up to his father in gridiron, here too Shilo will bank on his father’s Hollywood stints for guidance.
