Five immigrants die during the attempt to cross the English Channel, French media report | World News

A police operation is underway after it was reported that at least five migrants died during an attempt to cross the English Channel.

The French coast guard confirmed there was a failed attempt to cross the English Channel and that police were operating on a beach following the incident on Tuesday morning.

The spokeswoman said she could not say how many people were involved, but added that there were several “dead bodies.”

French newspaper La Voix Du Nord reported that at least five migrants have died.

It comes hours after the UK government’s controversial Rwanda bill – aimed at deterring migrants from crossing the Channel in small boats – what happened.
