The Dallas Mavericks were one of the most disappointing teams in Game 1 of the first round of the playoffs.

They were one of the best teams in the league since the All-Star break and some thought they were ready to upset the Kawhi Leonard-less Los Angeles Clippers.

Instead, they trailed by double digits for the entire game, and it wasn’t nearly as close as one could tell from the final score.

With that in mind, former NBA star Tim Hardaway called his son’s team out, stating that the University of Connecticut runs a better offense than them.

Talking on The Carton Show, he stated that the Mavs have no offensive flow whatsoever, criticizing them for being so stagnant and settling for Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving’s pick-and-roll sets.

He believes that allows other teams’ defenses to get some rest, as the players don’t have to move around chasing players or switching so that obviously gives them an edge to play on both ends of the floor.

Hardaway believes the Mavs need to do a better job of moving the ball around and getting everyone shots.

Of course, perhaps we could take these comments with a grain of salt, as he might want his son, Tim Hardaway Jr., to get more involved in the offense.

But even if that’s not the case, he’s got a valid point.

ISO-heavy teams rarely find any sort of success in the playoffs, and we’ve seen most Mavs players just stand in the corner when Doncic or Irving have the basketball, as they know the possession is going to end right there.

As a player, Jason Kidd was one of the greatest offensive minds this game has ever seen.

As a coach, however, he has yet to prove himself.
