France suffer huge Euro 2024 setback

The national team of France have suffered setback in their Euro 2024 ambition as PSG defender Lucas Hernandez faces the heartbreaking news of missing out on the summer tournament due to injury.

Hernandez’s dream of representing France in Euro 2024 came crashing down after he sustained a serious injury during his club’s Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

The devastating blow occurred when Hernandez suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee during PSG’s first-leg semi-final against Borussia Dortmund. The injury forced him to leave the field in the 42nd minute.

Following the match, PSG confirmed the extent of Hernandez’s injury, revealing that an MRI scan confirmed the severity of the damage. The 28-year-old defender is set to undergo surgery to repair his torn ACL.

This isn’t the first time Hernandez has faced such an injury setback. He previously suffered an ACL tear during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where France narrowly missed out on the title. The recurrence of this injury adds to Hernandez’s frustration as he faces another challenging road to recovery.

Despite the setback, Hernandez remains resilient. In a statement shared on Instagram, he expressed his commitment to PSG and vowed to return stronger from this setback.
