How to Get the Magnifying Glass

Have The Tool That Reveals Secret Notes

Stardew Valley Getting the Magnifying Glass for Secret Notes

Before you can get any Secret Notes in Stardew Valleyyou need to obtain the Magnifying Glass item. You can only obtain a Magnifying Glass during the winterso you have to wait for the right season to trigger the encounter tied to this important tool. When snow starts falling, walk from your farm to the bus stop between the hours of 6 a.m and 4 p.m. to activate a cutscene in the game.

The cutscene shows a shadow creature named Krobus following you before it is quickly scared away, starting the “A Winter Mystery” quest to your journal. Follow Krobus’ footsteps to the Playground to find the being in a nearby bush you can interact with. Doing this causes Krobus to appear again, where they apologize for stealing items in the community and give you the Magnifying Glass as an apology in Stardew Valley.

This item can be used to start finding Secret Notes as random drops from different events in Stardew Valleysuch as Festivals or Town activities. Other encounters like defeating monsters, breaking stumps and boulders, or harvesting giant crops could also produce a Secret Note. Whenever you perform an action that could yield a Note, the game goes through a random generation of numbers to determine which one you get.

The random aspect of Secret Note 20 dropping comes from the game generating a number between 1 and 25 whenever you complete an action that could produce a Note item. Try to
complete easy, fast tasks
to maximize your chances of getting the right Note.

How to Use Secret Note 20

Follow The Arrows For A Special Reward

Once you eventually receive Secret Note 20, you need to select it from your Inventory the same way you would try to use a consumable item. This adds the Note to your collection, where you can see a series of green arrows similar to the above image. These arrows are directions, leading you on a path that starts from the Town Squarein the center of the village during any season or time of day.

Start from the Eye in the Town Square, then follow the directions from Secret Note 20’s arrows until you hit a permanent obstacle in Stardew Valley. For example, the first arrow points right, so travel in this direction from the Eye until you hit an obstacle, then turn and start walking based on the next Note direction. This should take you all around town in a strange and sometimes confusing route with no clear end.

If you are having trouble figuring out if you are heading in the right directions and taking turns at the right time, feel free to start over by traveling back toward the starting Eye in the Town Square.

This path will take you across the bridge to JojaMart, where you can find a parked truck next to the building. The clue that Secret Note 20 is trying to give you here is related not to the JojaMart or surrounding environment, but rather who is located in the area. Interact with the Truck Driver NPC to reveal that he is willing to give you a special item, but only if you give him a Rabbit’s Foot in Stardew Valley as a trade.

Rewards From Reading Secret Note 20

Boost Your Character’s Luck

Handing over a Rabbit’s Foot to the Truck Driver rewards you with a Special Charman item that increases your Daily Luck by 2.5%. Luck is a statistic that affects many different aspects of the game, ranging from the chances to find other treasures or receiving rare buffs from food and drink. As you can see in the above video by YouTube creator UnsurpassableZLuck is responsible for many hidden elements of Stardew Valley.

As soon as you equip the Special Charm, it boosts the Luck of the current day, meaning that even if you take it off you should still experience good luck until the day has ended. The best way to use this item is to put it on when a new day starts, then swap it out for another Charm you’re already using for another effect. You do not have to equip the Special Charm all day to receive its buff throughout a single day’s adventures.

This Charm will show up in the “Player’s Menu” on the “Special Items & Powers” tab for those struggling to find the item once they’ve successfully collected it. This inventory placement is a change from the 1.6 update to Stardew Valley since the Charm was originally placed in your “Wallet” before. Make sure to check both areas when you aren’t sure if your game has been updated to the latest version.

Previous editions of the game have prevented your total daily Luck from surpassing 10%, but as of the 1.4 update, this is no longer the case. You can equip other items that bolster your Luck for a day with the Special Charm to greatly increase your fortune. Anyone who manages to get and read Secret Note 20 in Stardew Valley will have an amazing tool through the Special Charm to make each day full of new opportunities through better Luck.
