The 2023 NFL season didn’t pan out like the New York Giants expected heading into the year.

Things were looking up for this team after winning a playoff game in 2022, but unfortunately, they took a turn in the wrong direction.

Daniel Jones got hurt early on in the year and with the inconsistency at quarterback throughout the season, the Giants weren’t able to gain their footing down the stretch.

Fans and analysts weren’t sure about Jones’ future with the team before the injury, and with the draft rapidly approaching, those talks seem to be continuing.

Albert Breer recently joined Rich Eisen on his show, where he spoke about the possibility of the Giants moving on from Jones in the coming days.

“I don’t think it’s a smokescreen,” Breer said, adding, “I think the Giants are legitimately interested in getting a QB.”

Even though the Giants signed Jones to a four-year contract extension, things can change at a moment’s notice in the NFL.

If teams are unhappy with a quarterback they made an investment in, they seem more willing to pivot off them than teams have in years past.

Take Russell Wilson’s stint with the Denver Broncos as an example.

The Broncos signed Wilson to a massive deal, and less than two full years after signing this contract, Wilson is now a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers due to his poor performance in Denver.

Anything can happen in this league, especially if players aren’t performing as expected.

It will be interesting to see what the Giants do in the draft, and if these talks will materialize into anything tangible.
