Jayden Daniels Reveals Parents’ Influence Convinced Adam Peters and Dan Quinn to Draft Him as Washington Commanders’ QB

As hard-working as Jayden Daniels is, getting drafted in the big leagues wasn’t light work. It also wasn’t a result of his solo efforts. The Washington Commanders’ new QB revealed that his friends and family played a huge role in molding him into what he became: a professional quarterback for the National Football League.

The QB has been doing pressers since he was drafted, and it was about time that the Washington Commanders officially spoke to him and picked his brain about the journey he’s had till now. Daniels talked about the things that carried him to this point, and his parents played a huge role in this achievement.

The hosts of the show asked Dan Quin and Adam Peters about what they saw in Jayden Daniels. “They said once they went through the process and they got to learn about you off the field and all the things, the 5 AM workouts, the Oculus, and the VR training, and all the things the leadership and all those different things that you bring to the table as a football player and as a leader where did that come from?”

For the most part, Daniels had to thank his father and mother for what they’ve done for him and his sister all along. “I just say um, that’s how my parents raised me. I always work hard um you know watching my mama work hard my dad, um you know trying to provide for us and sacrificing uh their life for me and my sister,” said Daniels.

Daniels further elaborated by saying“So they sacrificed 23 years of their life you know to get me to this point man. So, uh I give all credit to them, and this is my whole support system man, stay grounded stay humble, um and just know nothing is given to you got to go earn everything.”

His parents’ belief in him and all his hard work paid off and all that’s left for this LSU QB is to prepare for the coming season. Now that he’s made it to the big leagues, people are already comparing him to Lamar Jackson, and some people are aggravated by it.

The QB is already polarizing the league

Bruce Feldman of The Athletic did a piece on Daniels where he wrote, “What are the Commanders getting in Jayden Daniels? “He’s Lamar Jackson-like and he can actually throw progression reads for a living because he’s disciplined enough. He’s the ‘wake up at 5 AM’ guy. Can throw with touch and anticipation. He’s a passer who just happens to be able to run really good versus the other way.”

The assessment didn’t sit well with 4x All-Pro and Super Bowl Champion Mitchell Schwartz he replied, “At 22 Lamar won an MVP. In the National Football League. After his age 23 season (where Jayden is now) he was 30-7 as a starter. Let’s stop comparing the two, let alone saying Jayden is better and downgrading what Lamar does,” to Feldman.

While there may be a hit of truth in both arguments, the LSU QB completed 66.3% of his passes in his college career, while the 2x MVP Lamar Jackson managed to complete only 57% of his passes. This shows that Lamar Jackson was less secure with the ball and Daniels was better at it.

Jackson had 4,132 rushing yards during his 3 seasons at Louisville. In that time, he also had 50 rushing TDs. As far as Daniels is concerned, in his last 3 seasons in college, Daniels managed to gather 2,729 rushing yards and had 27 rushing touchdowns. However, Daniels played in the SEC, which is tougher than the Atlantic Coast Conference, where Jackson played.

But these comparisons don’t matter now because both QBs play in the same league. It’s just a matter of time before we see them going against each other.
