Chicago Bears fans have been perpetually disappointed and frustrated for decades, but this is a great and auspicious time for them.

The Bears already had a promising young team by the end of last season, but they have now added two prime draft prospects in quarterback Caleb Williams and wide receiver Rome Odunze.

In fact, they now have solid odds of making the playoffs this coming season, per NBC Sports Bet.

Since 2010, Chicago has made the playoffs just twice and hasn’t won a single playoff game, but a new era is beginning in the Windy City.

Williams has been described as a generational prospect, and he put up gaudy stats over the last two seasons while at the University of Southern California.

Williams will have Odunze, who had 1,428 yards and 13 touchdowns last fall with the University of Washington, to throw the football to, but Odunze won’t be his only reliable target.

The Bears acquired productive wideout D.J. Moore a year ago in the trade that sent out last year’s No. 1 pick and also brought in this year’s No. 1 pick, which they used on Williams.

The Bears also traded for Keenan Allen, a veteran wide receiver who has made six Pro Bowls.

If that wasn’t enough, the Bears already possessed a young, up-and-coming defense to support Williams and his weapons on offense.

The NFC North should be very competitive, but if Williams plays well right away, Chicago could very well be headed back to the postseason.
