This year’s NFL Draft is absolutely loaded with potential, and as a result, a number of teams can say they had a good night on Thursday, when the first round took place.

The Chicago Bears likely had the best night of any team, as they took USC quarterback Caleb Williams, who may be a generational talent, at No. 1, then nabbed wide receiver Rome Odunze at No. 9.

But analyst Louis Riddick said on “The Dan Patrick Show”  that in a quiet way, the Baltimore Ravens did very well by taking Clemson University cornerback Nate Wiggins at No. 30.

Riddick talked about the Ravens’ culture of playing aggressively and relentlessly, and he feels Wiggins will fit in well with them.

This year’s draft class was heavily tilted toward offensive players — in fact, the best defensive player went as late as the No. 15 pick — but a few intriguing corners were available in the first round.

Wiggins has the length to bother wide receivers, and as Riddick pointed out, he does a good job of sticking to his man in coverage and not giving up.

Baltimore has always won with defense, and while they had the NFL’s best record last season and ranked first in scoring defense, they fell with a thud in the AFC Championship Game to the eventual Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.

They needed some help in their secondary, especially at the cornerback position, and perhaps they have gotten it now in the form of the 6-foot-1 Wiggins.
