A HUGE search has been launched for a six-year-old autistic boy missing in Germany since Monday night.
Arian Arnold’s panicked parents called the police just three minutes after realizing their son was missing after playing outside in the garden.
Since then, an army Tornado plane, sniffer dogs, drones and a sonar boat have joined the frantic search for Arian along with hundreds of emergency service workers.
The police revealed that “half the town” is also looking for Arian, bringing the search group to 600 people.
The young man, who does not speak, had just begun to play outside alone and come back inside on his own.
Police officers explained that because he does not speak and cannot respond to calls or shout for help, the apparently unprecedented rescue mission is “particularly difficult.”
They said, “We have to look very closely because we have to assume that it will not come forward on its own initiative.”
Firefighters, police and volunteers are searching for him near his home in Elm, southern Saxony, in worrying temperatures.
The small group of houses in Bremervörde where the family lives leads to rapeseed fields bordered by a large forest.
Beyond the fields is a stretch of the Oste River, where a sonar boat has been deployed to search for it. Image reports.
A German army Tornado aircraft was deployed on Tuesday afternoon to fly over the area in an unprecedented move.
They took aerial photographs with a special thermal imaging camera along with a helicopter that also scanned the area.
Police are desperately searching the rapeseed fields surrounding the estate, as well as nearby ponds and neighbors’ gardens.
Dozens of police formed a human chain to tour the nearby area on Tuesday without success.
They searched ditches, hedges, barns, dung heaps and sheds without luck until late into the night.
Residents have been asked to check their outbuildings and private security cameras as police told them “the missing child may also be in a shed or similar hiding place.”
They said: “So far we haven’t been able to find out.
“We’re trying to do everything we can.”
A police spokesman leading the search said: “Arian is barely able to speak. “We are looking for a child who would not communicate with us even when we were near him.
“He may still be out next night. The situation is dramatic.”
Arian was last seen around 7:30 pm on Monday night wearing only dragon-print sweatpants and a sweater with socks.
The young man had just learned to open closed doors, police explained, but it is still unclear exactly how he disappeared so quickly.
His panicked father called the police a few minutes later.
The temperatures in Saxony at this time of year have sparked great concern among those searching for it.
The fire department said it is currently “critical” and “just below freezing.”
On Tuesday night the temperature reached about two degrees below zero.
Police said this morning: “Unfortunately, we currently have no leads as to where the child could be.”
Riot police forces have reportedly been called in today to join the search, while emergency services redouble their efforts.
There is a small unpaved path leading from the houses through the fields to the forest, although it is not known if Arian took this route.
A police officer said it is “very possible” he is hiding in a shed or some similar location on private property in the city.
One neighbor said: “Everyone who lives here lives in harmony with each other. But it must be said that everyone tends to live alone and secluded.
“I just hope it shows up quickly.”
