Matzah, the Passover bread of affliction and freedom, is a timely tradition

Although the matzah sold in supermarkets is usually square, the round matzah is believed to be the oldest form of this unleavened bread eaten during the Passover holiday as a symbol of both suffering and freedom.

Bread – and the lack of it – plays a role in many corners of the world facing crisis, from Israel and Gaza to Ukraine, Afghanistan and Sudan.
