Mom, 30, and son, 6, are electrocuted to death by a faulty cord in a washing machine after she tried to save the dead who were being electrocuted.

A mother and her six-year-old son were electrocuted after she tried to pull him away from a faulty washing machine cord.

Diana Michelle Machado Santos da Silva, 30, and Pietro Vinicius Santos de Oliveira died at their home in Timón, a Brazilian municipality in the state of Maranhão, on Saturday, April 20.

Diana noticed her son was being electrocuted by the wiring and tried to save him, but he was also electrocuted, according to police.

The teacher and her young son were pronounced dead at the scene.

Firefighters were called to their home in the Formosa neighborhood of Timón, but emergency services had already removed the bodies of Diana and Pietro.

They were sent to the local morgue in an attempt to establish the exact causes and circumstances of their deaths.

Local police said: “The extension cord came into contact with an iron railing of the house, which was electrified by a bare wire.

“The boy touched the railing and was surprised.”

The investigation is ongoing.

In December, another child also tragically died from electrocution while putting up Christmas lights.

The lifeless body of 10-year-old Augusto Dalmaz Bonato was found next to the decorations of his family home in Campo Largo, Brazil.

His parents called the emergency services while his devastated sister, Carolina Dalmaz, tried to revive him.

Paramedics quickly arrived at the home and gave the boy first aid before taking him to a hospital.

He died in the ICU shortly after.

It came after a pregnant teenager was electrocuted while trying to charge her phone after taking a bath.

Jennifer Karolayne, 17, and her unborn child died in the tragic incident at their home in Paraiba, Brazil.

Emergency services were called to the scene in the city of Campina Grande after the victim’s husband raised the alarm.

But when paramedics arrived at her home in the early hours of August 17, Jennifer was already dead.

Her husband, who was not named, said he heard an “unusually loud noise” and a scream before finding her unconscious on the floor.
