Power rankings, in MLB, allow us to evaluate talent and recent performance.
Those who are at the top have been, historically, great performers; but are also doing it right now, as we speak.
When it comes to MLB’s Hitter Power Rankings, two members of the Los Angeles Dodgers are on top: Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani.
This development should surprise absolutely no one, given their credentials and the fact they are both at their peak.

Ohtani is fantastic, but Betts has been the heart and soul of the 2024 Dodgers and it’s not particularly close.
The 2018 AL MVP and firm 2023 NL MVP candidate is enjoying his best season yet, hitting .377/.481/.623 with a 1.104 OPS.
He has six home runs and eight stolen bases, and has also accumulated 49 hits, 29 runs, and 10 doubles.
Oh, and he is playing an entirely new position for him, shortstop.
Not only he is doing that well, but he has gotten even better at the plate if that’s even possible.
Ohtani, who is also having a phenomenal year at the plate but is not pitching due to an elbow injury, is second on the list.
If Betts and Ohtani keep performing like this, it’s hard not to see the Dodgers lifting the World Series trophy in late October or early November.
The third player on the list, and first of the American League, is another star who seems to be having a career year: Juan Soto.
The New York Yankees are enjoying his contributions, at least for one year: he is expected to sign a deal north of $500 million as a free agent after the season.
