After celebrating their legal marriage anniversary on April 22, Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens have now landed on their destination marriage anniversary day on May 6. In the last few months, leading up to their one-year marriage, the couple went through public scrutiny, especially after Jonathan Owens claimed, “I always say that the men are the catch” on the Pivot podcast regarding their relationship. However, the duo remained unfazed and each time showed their fans how their bond was above everything. This was once again evident from Jonathan’s latest post commemorating their marriage anniversary.

“Still can’t believe this was a year ago already!!! Hands down the best day of my life,” Owens wrote along with the perfect moment from their wedding day in Cabo. Soon, Mrs. Owens paired beautifully on JO’s IG post as she left her mark in the comment box, “my whole heart,” with love and pride emojis.

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens have been the pillars of strength for each other throughout. After their marriage last year, the couple had to stay in different places due to their sporting engagements. While the distance was an upset for the two, the social media outcry post Owens’ Pivot podcast did affect Biles. The gymnast called out the ‘divorce’ trolls in her conversation in the Call Her Daddy podcast, saying: “Divorce him. Divorce him, all this crazy stuff. And like, he doesn’t even like to say divorce. He’s probably dying right now that I’ve said it like six times in a row. Divorce?” Expressing how the harsh attacks affected her, the 7x Olympic medalist once said, “One night I broke down, and I’m like, why are you guys talking about my husband like this? Yeah. Like you don’t know him.”

Amid all the cacophony regarding Simone’s preference for Jonathan Owens, the couple never failed to celebrate their relationship and bond.

On April 22 this year, both Simone and Jonathan showcased their love for each other by posting commemorating messages. Remembering their court marriage anniversary, Biles raised the toast with the lines, “To many more baby!!!! I wish I could marry you a million more times! I love you so much! ” Amidst the continuous social media scrutiny over their bonding, such lines prove the firm consistency between Biles and Owens. Moreover, the 7x Olympic medalist holds the Cabo Lucas ceremony higher than anything else, as she had mentioned previously.

Topping the entire ceremony, the families of Biles and Owens kept it a close-knit affair, inviting 140 guests. It was all about lavishness and gold and white decor to serve the actual hue of the celebration. Both Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens did well with their outfits: Simone appeared with four different attires, whereas Owens preferred a tan suit and a bowtie. For the revered gymnast, the entire occasion went nervously, as she mentioned later, “I’ve never been so nervous before in my life.” She left Cabo with eyes full of happy tears.

Riding on overwhelming emotion, Simone later penned on her IG story, “bawled my eyes out leaving Cabo. We had the most beautiful wedding. I miss it already.” With the addition of a Cinco-de-Drinko-themed welcome party on the occasion, the celebration filled Simone Biles like nothing else. So when after one month, Jonathan Owens set sail for Green Bay Packers, Simone was left with all the memories to dance with. Remembering that part of her life, she later conceded, “I’m so sad it’s all over. I want to do it again. We had the best night of our lives.
