NFL teams, analysts, and fans over the last few days and weeks have started to hear about possible rumors and developments about trades that could take place in the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday night in Detroit.

One new development is that the New York Giants are reportedly interested in trading up to No. 3 where the New England Patriots currently sit, according to Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz.

According to Schultz, a deal is believed to be “a long shot.”

What is fascinating about both of these teams is that they might need a quarterback.

The Patriots certainly need a new quarterback after they traded Mac Jones to the Jacksonville Jaguars earlier this offseason.

But the real question comes with the Giants.

Are they actually trying to draft a new quarterback to replace Daniel Jones?

If so, as Schultz reported, their target is North Carolina’s Drake Maye.

Besides, No. 3 is too far down to most likely get USC’s Caleb Williams or LSU’s Jayden Daniels.

Again, the trade is unlikely because the Patriots also appear to be interested in Maye and are not interested in switching spots with the Giants, even if they can gain more assets.

New England doesn’t appear to be totally against trading down, but they are certainly against it if another team wants their top target.

It does also appear that Giants head coach Brian Daboll is ready to move on from Jones, even if the team doesn’t find a way to strike terms on a deal.
