OpenAI Expands Partnership with Moderna for Customizable GPTs

Open AI and Moderna announced that they have expanded their partnership to offer the pharmaceutical giant’s employees access to ChatGPT Enterprise, a platform that allows the development of customizable GPTs for a specific purpose.

Through ChatGPT Enterprise, users can create GPTs by starting a conversation with ChatGPT and then providing additional knowledge on a topic or giving it instructions. Users can also choose what the GPT can do, such as analyze data, search the web, or create images.

Moderna, which initially partnered with OpenAI in early 2023, tested the implementation of ChatGPT Enterprise within its workforce, allowing individual teams to create novel use cases and GPTS to meet the needs of their teams.

Within two months of adopting ChatGPT Enterprise, Moderna said it had created 750 GPTs across the enterprise; each user had an average of 120 conversations through the platform per week and 40% of users created GPT.

The pharmaceutical company will now deploy ChatGPT Enterprise to thousands of its employees through the expanded partnership.

“At Moderna we deeply believe that ChatGPT and what OpenAI is doing are going to change the world. We are looking at all business processes, from legal to research, manufacturing to commercial, and we are thinking about how to redesign them with AI,” he said Stéphane Bancel, CEO of Moderna, in a statement.

THE BIGGEST TREND

OpenAI released ChatGPT Enterprise to the public in November last year. General users can create a custom version of ChatGPT to help with specific daily living tasks or activities, such as becoming a better cook or a better negotiator.

Experts believe that ChatGPT has a great promise in drug discovery by combining natural language processing with the development of innovative drugs. Still, there are limitations, such as ChatGPT being unexplainable, meaning the source of its predictive results cannot be traced.

Additionally, the data for the current version of ChatGPT is not up to date.

OpenAI website state“ChatGPT is not connected to the Internet and may occasionally produce incorrect answers. It has limited knowledge of the world and events after 2021 and may also occasionally produce harmful instructions or biased content.”

Despite the limitations, numerous digital health companies are using ChatGPT in their offerings, such as Hyro, maker of a GPT-enabled conversational AI provider for healthcare. I raise $20 million in Series B funding last year, bringing the company’s total funding to $35 million.
