Owner Robert Kraft, head coach Jerod Mayo, and the rest of New England’s brass know that they have a lot of holes to fill in this year’s draft.

Quarterback is obviously the team’s largest priority and has been discussed the most both in the building and in the media.

According to NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, the Patriots are interested in six prospects at the No. 3 overall draft slot that they would be comfortable selecting.

“Mayo also told me they have narrowed down their list for their top pick to about six prospects they would love to choose from, but all eyes are on quarterback,” Wolfe reported Thursday morning.

New England has struggled to find a quarterback after Tom Brady left for Tampa Bay in 2020.

After a successful rookie season in 2021 that saw him earn a Pro Bowl trip while also guiding the Patriots to the playoffs, Mac Jones’s play fell off.

The former first-round pick was traded to Jacksonville earlier this offseason.

With young Bailey Zappe seemingly not the answer under center either, the Pats really have to nail this selection when it comes to that position.

It seems as though Drake Maye and, if he were to fall, Jayden Daniels would be the two top options for Mayo and Co.

But, if the magic number for prospects is six, that must mean that they are interested in other quarterbacks such as J.J. McCarthy and Michael Penix Jr.

Time will tell to see if they decide to stay put at No. 3 or trade down to acquire more assets.
