Once considered to be the next NFL star, Spencer Rattler’s journey to the league hasn’t been as smooth as most people thought it would be.

His well-documented struggles in college made him stay there for much longer than he would’ve wanted to, and he saw his draft stock and positioning plummet year after year.

Even so, the arm talent is most definitely there, and while he’s no longer a top-tier prospect — or even a young prospect — he should still get a chance to make an NFL roster.

That’s why, in the days leading to the NFL Draft, the South Carolina product talked about how much it would mean for him to be taken by the New England Patriots (via Phil A Perry and Los Pats Talks).

Rattler talked about how big a Tom Brady fan he was and how he grew up watching him dominate, adding that he also spent time with former Patriots star Troy Brown.

The Patriots are in need of a quarterback, but they also need to add talent all over the offense.

Even so, they’re expected to address their need for a QB in the first round, more specifically, with the No. 3 pick, and most likely with Drake Maye.

Rattler, on the other hand, should be up for grabs in the third round, with teams like the Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Rams, Denver Broncos, or Seattle Seahawks perhaps taking a flier on him as a backup with some upside.
