The Dallas Mavericks have two of the best offensive players this game has ever seen.

Luka Doncic is a generational talent, a show-stopper, and the kind of player who’s going to alter every single possession just with his presence.

Kyrie Irving, on the other hand, might be one of the most skilled and gifted scorers to ever lace them up, even if he doesn’t get enough recognition for it.

That’s why former NFL star Robert Griffin III took to Twitter to give Irving his flowers, calling him the most skilled player in the league.

Griffin questioned USA Basketball’s decision not to include him in the roster for the Olympics, especially considering he’s a three-level scorer with a top-notch basketball IQ.

Truth be told, that may not have anything to do with basketball.

Kyrie’s reputation precedes him, and while fellow players love and respect him, he’s got a history of not putting basketball first and foremost and focusing on off-court issues.

Also, as good a player as he is, he’s not better than Stephen Curry, who’s expected to be the starter.

There are always politics in those decisions, and while it shouldn’t be that way, it would be naive to think that’s not the case this time either.

Kyrie is a great player, perhaps one of the most talented this game has ever seen.

But given everything he’s done and said, it seems like he’s going to have to redeem himself on the court by winning or putting together another deep championship run before getting the recognition he deserves.
