The freshman threw shade at his former coach, saying, “I just don’t want to play for clicks.” This dig tarnished Sanders’ reputation, and now it seems to be backfiring on the 20-year-old cornerback. Schools are hesitant to pursue him, viewing his departure and comments as immature.

Though the former five-star recruit ranks highly as a transfer prospect, his history of controversy, dating back to high school, raises serious concerns about his maturity and future in the sport. Matt Zenitz, a 247Sports reporterexplains, “Even with the talent he (Cormani) has, it’s led a lot of teams I’ve talked to being reluctant to pursue him.” Zenitz stated on 247Sports’ Transfer Portal Show, “It’s led to a point where a lot of teams are planning on not pursuing him.” This potential fallout from his controversial behavior is a stark reality for Cormani McClain, with multiple college football programs reportedly “reluctant” to bring him onto their team.
