Six Iranian border guards who were detained by the Taliban on Iran’s eastern border with Afghanistan on Thursday afternoon have been released, the Iranian border guard headquarters in East Khorasan province confirmed on Friday.
The border guards were patrolling at the border’s zero point when they were detained by Taliban forces for “illegal entry” into Afghanistan.
Iranian officials held talks with Taliban officials to resolve the issue and bring border guards home.
