The Minnesota Timberwolves scored a powerful 105-93 win over the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night and now lead Phoenix, 2-0, in the opening-round series.

This was a brutal defeat for the Suns, who now stand two losses away from being pushed out in the first round of the playoffs.

Although the Suns could score four victories in this series, Stephen A. Smith doesn’t think it is going to happen.

Speaking on Wednesday’s “First Take,” he said that he thinks the series is over.

He said that Kevin Durant looks demoralized and drained, the Timberwolves are firing on all cylinders, and Suns head coach Frank Vogel doesn’t have what it takes to combat Minnesota.

Smith went on to say that the “one team standing in (the Timberwolves’) way is the Denver Nuggets.”

That’s a big claim about Minnesota and a sign that they are having their best season in years and really could be going all the way to the Western Conference Finals.

That would be a massive achievement for the Timberwolves, something that has been years in the making.

They were considered favorites for this series but they are playing even better than expected against the Suns.

It was a team effort on Tuesday night, as multiple stars scored in double-digits for the T-Wolves.

Jaden McDaniels led the way with 25 points, Rudy Gobert and Mike Conley scored 18 each, while Anthony Edwards was a bit more quiet than usual with 15 and Karl-Anthony Towns put up 12 points.

The Timberwolves looked like favorites to win the series and the Suns weren’t able to keep up, even though they kept it close at times.

The series isn’t literally done, of course, but it does seem like everything is going in Minnesota’s favor right now.
