Trinity Thomas’ Backout From Pacific Rim Championships 2024 Gets US Gymnastics in Hot Water: “Cancel the Whole Meet”

In the Olympic season, Trinity Thomas had been all set to announce her elite gymnastics comeback through the Pacific Rim Championships. However, the NCAA legend recently backed off from the contest “prioritizing health and well-being”. However, such a late announcement could not invite praise from all the stakeholders, as the concerned events were set to roll on April 27 and April 28 in Columbia. Moreover, Trinity Thomas’ selection came through a hefty process at the US National team camp in Katy, Texas. So, USA Gymnastics is in a disruptive situation now.

After Trinity Thomas backed out, the gymnastics behemoth might not be able to replace her position. The reason is that, in the selection process, the limited seats were assigned to the table toppers in Katy. So when Trinity Thomas and others achieved the berth for Columbia bound elite championship, other high scorers moved to the City of Jesolo Trophy that already came to an end. So, in the late hours, a replacement is not going to come. Eventually, USA Gymnastics scheduled the remaining four gymnasts in the lineup to “compete as a team” in the Pacific Rim Championships. However, Trinity Thomas will have to wait further to announce her elite return that was in place in 2018 for the last time.
