UFC Injury: Jon Jones “Can’t Wait to Officially Be Back in Shape” as UFC Champ Releases Training Pictures After Teasing Alex Pereira Fight

Jon Jones is gearing up to make his return to the Octagon! The UFC undisputed heavyweight champion has been on the sidelines recovering from a torn pectoral tendon that threw a wrench in his title defense at UFC 295 against Stipe Miocic in 2023. This resulted in the UFC having to replace the two with Tom Aspinall and Sergei Pavlovich for an interim title clash instead, which Aspinall won.

Now, in a post on social media, ‘Bones’ has indicated that his recovery process is proceeding without a hitch and he’s back in the gym. With his recent angling for a fight against Alex Pereira, Jones has sent shockwaves through the MMA world as fans eagerly await more news about the return of the ‘GOAT’!

According to reports online, Jon Jones underwent two surgeries in his time away from the cage. The first was to fix the torn pectoral tendon, the main cause behind his absence from the sport, and the second one was to address ‘bone spurs’ in his left elbow.

And it appears that the procedures have been a success as Jones took to social media recently to share an update with his fans. He stated, “I can’t wait to officially be back in shape! As of right now, I’m enjoying the process. This is me at work. Blessed”

His return fight has also been the source of much speculation amongst MMA fans and experts as ‘Bones’ has seemingly set his sights on a fight against light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira.

In a series of posts on X, Jones stated, “If Alex P became champion of the heavyweight division, would you guys consider him the GOAT? Being back in the gym has got me thinking differently. That fight after Stipe maybe the next biggest move I could possibly make. This killer has already defeated so many champions, and is already considered a legend to millions around the world. The most massive fight the UFC could make.”

He further went on to claim that the potential clash between the two men would be, “the biggest fight in MMA history”. While he has found support from former rival, Daniel Cormier for this proposal, many prominent voices and fans in the MMA world have claimed they would like to see a unification bout between him and Aspinall instead.

While it remains to be seen who takes on Jon Jones after Stipe Miocic, as he’s indicated the former champion is still a target, ‘Bones’ has also revealed that the UFC and Dana White might already have a date for his return!
