UNRWA: 37 children lose their mothers every day in the Gaza Strip in the midst of war

The UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, has reported the “appalling” conditions faced by Palestinian women in Gaza, with more than 10,000 dead and 19,000 injured since the beginning of October 2023.

More than 10,000 women have been killed in the ongoing Israeli attack on the defeated Gaza Strip, UNRWA said on Friday, adding: “The war in Gaza remains a war against women.”

“More than 10,000 women have died and 19,000 have been injured.”

The agency also noted that “37 children lose their mother every day.”

He stressed that “conditions are appalling” and stated that “more than 155,000 pregnant or lactating women face very limited access to water and sanitary items.”

Israel has waged a war in Gaza for more than half a year that has caused widespread death and destruction in the coastal enclave.

Since then, more than 34,600 Palestinians have been killed and more than 77,800 injured. The vast majority of the dead have been women and children. Israel has also imposed a crippling blockade on the Gaza Strip, leaving its population, particularly residents of northern Gaza, on the brink of famine.

Israel is also accused of genocide before the International Court of Justice. An interim ruling in January said it is “plausible” that Israel’s actions amount to genocide and ordered Tel Aviv to ensure its forces did not commit such acts and take steps to ensure humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in Gaza. .
