Users report their alarms are not ringing in the morning

Some iPhone bugs are worse than others. Apple confirmed something that has been spreading on social media to Today. Some users’ alarms are triggering silently.

That means they won’t wake you up in time for work, meetings, and anything else you have planned in the early morning. This issue doesn’t seem related to iOS 17.4.1, which is something that Apple users had speculated about in recent days.

Fortunately, Apple says it’s working on a fix, but it’s unclear if it’s coming through a software update or if it’s something the company can fix on its end without rolling out an update. Still, it’s important to note that it doesn’t seem to be affecting all iPhone users.

If you’re afraid of missing an important appointment, there’s one thing you should check right now.

Make sure your alarm rings: In the Settings app, make sure Sound & Haptics are turned up. You might consider turning “Change with Buttons” off, as you can accidentally turn down your alarm’s volume.

Of course, make sure that your Sleep Focus or regular alarm is still on. What some people are doing is adding an alarm on a different device, just to make sure.

At this moment, we don’t know when Apple will release the update. Weirdly, when the company seeded iOS 17.4.1, it was fixing several issues with iOS 17.4, including some iPhone batteries excessively draining, some crashing issues, and other minor bugs.

It’s also unclear if users testing iOS 17.5 are facing this bug. One thing is for sure: this isn’t the first time the iPhone’s alarm has stopped working out of nowhere. For example, after the iOS 9 release, Apple had to seed a new version because it was preventing some alarms from ringing.

BGR will let you know once Apple fixes this issue. If we discover more workarounds to prevent this bug from happening, we’ll update this article.
