Visiting Iranian president pays tribute to Allama Iqbal in Lahore, Pakistan

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, on the second day of his official visit to Pakistan on Tuesday, visited Lahore, where the mausoleum of noted Pakistani poet and philosopher Iqbal Lahori is located.

Upon his arrival in the provincial capital, he was received by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and a host of government officials.

President Raisi placed a wreath on the grave of Allama Iqbal, known as Iqbal Lahori in Iran, and offered prayers to the Pakistani intellectual, who died in 1938.

During his itinerary through the city, he also visited the Badshahi Mosque as well as educational institutions for meetings with scientific and cultural elites.

The Iranian president, leading a delegation of senior ministers, arrived in Pakistan on Monday for talks and agreements on expanding bilateral relations with the neighboring country in several areas.
