WATCH: Furious Aryna Sabalenka Completely Devours Racket in Front of Iga Swiatek Following Madrid Desolation

“Three hours, that’s a long one!” Broken rackets and hard-earned defeats follow every near-miss setback for Aryna Sabalenka. The World’s No. 1 ranked tennis player, Iga Swiatek, defeated the 26-year-old tennis star in “the most intense and crazy final,” which embodied drama and passion. But where one hand the Pole was celebrating the victory, the Australian Open champion busted out her frustration over her racket.

Last year, a similar class took place in the Madrid Open final, where Sabalenka achieved victory. But this year, the exhausting match was the ideal retaliation for Swiatek, who fought valiantly for three hours and eleven minutes to win in the Spanish city. A video of the World N0. 2 breaking racket after the 7-5, 4-6, 7-6(7) defeat is making rounds on the internet.

In that video, on one end, the polish tennis player was quite emotional with the way she came out of the event after giving tough competition to others. On the other hand, the Belarusian tennis player literally smashed her racket before shaking hands with Swiatek. She proceeded to the bench and threw her racket onto the court after smashing it four times. But this outburst is not an unusual incident—shortly after losing to Ukraine’s Anhelina Kalinina at the Miami Open over a month earlier, Sabalenka smashed her racket three times in frustration.

In a press conference, Aryna stated, “I really want to see many more finals against (Swiatek). I want to see more wins than losses. But I really hope that we’ll be able to keep the level or increase it every year. I’m happy with the level I played, with the effort I put into this match and into this week.”

After improving her record over her Belarusian rival to 7-3, Swiatek revealed her thoughts on the intense final match. “I think it was the most intense and crazy final I played. Out of every match (in my career), hard to say, but a final makes it even more crazy.”

Not only this, she held Sabalenka responsible for motivating her to be a better player. “Aryna, to many more finals! It’s always a challenge playing you. Thanks for always motivating me and forcing me to be a better player,” Swiatek said at the trophy presentation.

Although the second-ranked tennis player in the world expressed that she would be departing Madrid with a good outlook, Swiatek’s victory was surprisingly fueled by the ‘King of clay’ Rafael Nadal.

Although there was some tension throughout the first two hours of the match, Rafael Nadal’s mental toughness served as motivation for the Pole, who looked to him for inspiration as he showed his capacity to step up when it mattered most. “I remember exactly when he was playing (Daniil) Medvedev in Australia (Open final in 2022) and it clicked for him. He also struggled for a bit of time, he was tense and I think stressed,” she added.

It won’t be wrong to say that the Madrid Open final was tough for both the tennis players in one way or the other. Nevertheless, what are your thoughts on Sabalenka’s outburst on the court and Swiatek picking up her 20th title of her career? Do let us know in the comment section below.
