‘ We won’t allow cartels and cabals to survive ‘ – Ondo Sports Commisioner says after Sunshine Stars General Manager suspension

In a move aimed at revamping the fortunes of Sunshine Stars Football Club, the Ondo State Government has suspended the General Manager, Tunde Ogunja.

The suspension was formally announced by the Ondo State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Hon. Sara Yusuf-Ogunleye, on Tuesday. She emphasised that the decision to suspend Ogunja is part of the government’s commitment to revitalizing the club.

“We won’t allow cartels and cabals to survive, and I am determined to move the ministry forward,” Yusuf-Ogunleye asserted. “I therefore call for the understanding and cooperation of all stakeholders for effective performance.”

Sunshine Stars’ recent performance has been underwhelming, with the club failing to secure a win in their last five games. Currently occupying the 16th position on the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) table with 36 points, the team faces significant challenges in the league.

The suspension of the General Manager signals a proactive step by the Ondo State Government to address the club’s decline and instigate necessary reforms.
