During one of the best performances of his NBA career against the Los Angeles Lakers in the Play-In Tournament, superstar forward Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans suffered a hamstring injury, which put his status in doubt moving forward.
Fortunately for New Orleans, the team was able to get the best of the Sacramento Kings in the next game of the Play-In Tournament in order to secure their position in the eighth spot in the Western Conference, resulting in the team having to play the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the NBA playoffs.
However, with Williamson nursing a hamstring injury, the Pelicans would have to move forward without their superstar, and there was no telling whether he’d be able to return to the floor for New Orleans.
Fortunately, there may be some light at the end of the tunnel for Williamson, with the rising star admitting that it is “realistic” he could return in the playoffs, according to Andrew Lopez of ESPN.
Zion Williamson just spoke to media in OKC.
He said he’s attacking his rehab and said it’s a “realistic” chance he returns in postseason.
Said this hamstring injury isn’t as bad as the one he suffered last year.
Called the injury and timing bittersweet.

Despite giving the Thunder all they could handle in Oklahoma City in Game 1, the Pelicans fell to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and company, with New Orleans now facing a 0-1 deficit heading into Game 2.
Although Williamson said it is realistic that he can return to the floor during the postseason, he didn’t say when that might be because the team could really use him in this first-round series against a talented and young Thunder squad.
It’ll be interesting to see how things pan out for Williamson and the Pelicans, as Williamson’s return could be a game-changer for New Orleans.
