“You Were 1-8 in the Conference”: Stephen A. Smith Hands Shedeur Sanders a Brutal Reality Check on Xavier Smith Controversy

Amid the ongoing controversy and drama surrounding Shedeur Sanders’ “mid” remarks about former safety Xavier Smith, Renowned sports commentator Stephen A. Smith has stepped into the fray and offered a stern reality check to the young quarterback.

Addressing the issue on his May 2nd showon his ShowSmith minced no words in his analysis of Shedeur’s behavior, labeling it as arrogant and in need of scrutiny. Despite his close relationship with Coach Prime, Smith did not hesitate to critique Shedeur’s actions.

“I certainly don’t think that Prime Time Deion Sanders is playing for clicks. I do think that somebody who does need to be checked just a little bit is Shedeur Sanders. Nobody else is saying it, so I am going to say it,” remarked Smith.

Smith directed Shedeur’s attention to the upcoming season, urging him to focus on his performance on the field rather than engaging in unnecessary drama over a former player. He acknowledged Shedeur’s talent but emphasized the importance of maintaining humility and professionalism.

“He is a special talent. And even though they were 4-8 and even though they were 1-8 in the conference, even though they ended the season losing six straight, it is not an indictment against Shedeur Sanders because this brother is special, he can play. And I am not questioning his character by any stretch of the imagination. But it is not hard to see that some of this could be brought on himself. At the end of the day, you’re 4-8. At the end of the day, you were 1-8 in the conference,” Smith stated.
