A24’s latest release, the Chris Rock–directed comedy‑drama Misty Green, will arrive on Netflix U.S. on Nov. 9, the studio said Oct. 24, a departure from A24’s regular first‑window arrangement with HBO Max.
The film opened in theaters on Oct. 9 after a premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and grossed $160,023 in its limited theatrical run. A24 normally places new releases into a Pay‑1 window with Warner Bros. Discovery’s HBO Max, but Rock’s existing deal with Netflix takes precedence for this picture, according to trade reporting.
Cast, reception and context
Misty Green is Rock’s first feature directing effort in 12 years. The film stars Rosalind Eleazar, with an ensemble cast that includes Adam Driver, Daniel Kaluuya, Anna Kendrick, Topher Grace and Rock himself. A24’s official synopsis says the film follows “a talented actress whose career has stalled” as she fights for a second act.
Critical and audience responses have been mixed. On Rotten Tomatoes, audience reviews registered 68% positive while critics’ reviews stood at 59%. After its TIFF premiere and limited release, the film divided viewers and reviewers, per the ratings.
Distribution note
A24 maintains a Pay‑1 relationship with HBO Max that typically makes the streaming service the first home for the studio’s films after their theatrical runs. For Misty Green, that arrangement was superseded by a separate, long‑running relationship Rock has with Netflix for his comedy specials, which trade reporting says obligated the film to the streamer for its U.S. debut.
“Years after her Hollywood breakthrough, a talented actress whose career has stalled fights for her second act,” A24’s official description said of Misty Green.
- Theatrical opening: Oct. 9, 2026 (limited release following TIFF premiere)
- Netflix U.S. arrival: Nov. 9, 2026
- Box office through limited run: $160,023

A24 has released several notable films this year, including Tony, The Invite, Primetime and Backrooms, the latter now the studio’s highest‑grossing feature. International streaming availability for Misty Green may vary by territory, the studio said.
