“Super Troopers 3” will arrive on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ on Nov. 5, giving the cult comedy franchise a third feature installment more than two decades after the original film introduced its squad of prank-prone Vermont state troopers.
Searchlight Pictures announced the streaming release Wednesday. The new movie brings back the Broken Lizard performers who created and played the central group: Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske.
The original team returns
Chandrasekhar is directing, while Broken Lizard is credited with writing the film. The story again places the Super Troopers in situations involving questionable police work, escalating disorder and the broad physical comedy that has defined the series.
The franchise began with “Super Troopers”, which was followed by “Super Troopers 2”. Both earlier films are available on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+, allowing viewers to revisit the series before the new chapter debuts.
- Release date: Nov. 5
- Streaming services: Hulu and Hulu on Disney+
- Director: Jay Chandrasekhar
- Writers: Broken Lizard
New additions to the cast
The third film expands the ensemble with Hannah Simone, Nat Faxon, Chace Crawford, Andrew Dismukes, Marisa Coughlan, Jon Rudnitsky, Lynda Carter and Brian Cox.
The returning performers are reprising the roles they first played roughly 25 years ago. Searchlight Pictures described the new installment as another collision between the troopers’ law-enforcement duties and the chaos that follows them, continuing the series’ established comic setup.
The release will be available through Hulu as well as the Hulu service offered on Disney+. The announcement places “Super Troopers 3” among the latest film titles reaching audiences through Disney’s streaming distribution platforms rather than a traditional theatrical rollout.
