McDonald’s is bringing the McRib sandwich back to some restaurants in the United States for a limited time, with the chain telling USA TODAY that the pork sandwich will begin appearing regionally on Tuesday.
Where and how to find it
McDonald’s confirmed several major metropolitan areas among those scheduled to receive the McRib, including Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Dallas. The chain advised customers to use the McDonald’s app to check whether a particular restaurant is offering the sandwich.
- The McRib is rolling out regionally rather than as a nationwide release in 2026.
- Some consumers have reported purchases in more than a dozen cities; the McRib Locator website is collecting confirmed sightings, which include Bakersfield, Cedar Rapids, Corpus Christi, Grand Rapids, Hollywood, Independence, Knoxville, Marietta, Old Forge, Portland, Richmond, San Antonio, San Diego and Van Nuys.
- Columbus, Ohio, and parts of the Pittsburgh area were reported to have the sandwich on Oct. 26, according to local news outlets within the USA TODAY Network.
What is the McRib
The McRib is a boneless pork patty shaped to resemble a rack of ribs and served on a homestyle bun with barbecue sauce, pickles and slivered onions. Ingredients listed include pork, water, salt, dextrose and rosemary extract. McDonald’s executive chef Rene Arend is credited with the sandwich’s creation; early developments in restructured meat that influenced the product involved University of Nebraska professor Roger Ma, according to historical accounts tied to the sandwich’s origins.
The chain has in recent years varied its McRib strategy between nationwide rollouts and limited regional releases; the 2026 appearance comes earlier on the calendar than some prior returns, which have occurred in mid- to late November.
What customers should know
Availability will differ by restaurant. The McRib Locator site, which relies on consumer-submitted receipts and photos for confirmed sightings, lists specific confirmed and unconfirmed locations. McDonald’s directs customers to its app for official menu listings and availability at individual restaurants.

The sandwich will be offered for a limited time in participating restaurants.
